So how’s the dancing?

dance Today I was reminded of a common saying: “You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family”. I’ve even used it myself.

But is that really true?

Can we choose our families? Are we victims to the unhappiness that so many have with children, parents, partners or siblings. Do we create our families or are they created for us? Many of us really question how to change our relationships.  And sometimes the answers aren’t simple. Especially if the potential consequences are life altering.

But there’s one thing for sure. If one person changes what they do in a relationship. The relationship will change, it has to. It’s like if you are slow dancing with someone and all of the sudden one of you starts swing dancing. The dance changes. It has to! What one person does, always, affects the other.

So how’s the dancing in your relationships? Wish the people in your life had some different steps? What about your own moves?

Your thoughts and feelings are important, feel free to leave a comment below if you want.

“what one person does, always affects the other” So true in any relationship, be it marital, child/parent, work relationships, or just a casual exchange with a stranger.
