Couples Therapy Creator Receives APA Award

Couples Therapy Creator Sue Johnson

Dr. Sue Johnson, 2016 Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

EFT Couples Therapy creator,
Dr. Sue Johnson to receive APA award: Family Psychologist of the Year, 2016!

This award is well deserved.  Sue has been a pioneer and leading voice in couples and family therapy for decades. Her work began in the early 80s and is still going strong with her most recent release of Love Sense.

EFT offers incredible results!

I first learned about Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) in Grad School. My assignment to find an effective family therapy based in science led directly to EFT, and I’ve been hooked ever since!.   I found Sue’s amazing research and incredible results for couples intoxicating! Her model of couple therapy continues to create impressive results and is grounded in multiple research publications. EFT has been verified by so many research studies and publications that Emotionally Focused Therapy meets the highest of standards for effectiveness.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy meets the highest of standards for effectiveness.

I’m so grateful to have received advanced training through The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). Research results and therapy methods evolve, so it’s important to me that I continue to learn and evolve as a therapist. And besides that, it’s fun!  I love what I do and feel so privileged to do this amazing work with couples and individuals.

For couples that are struggling, EFT provides a way to reconnect. Couples come to my office caught in “demon dialogues”.  You probably know the ones I’m talking about.  They’re the fights that leave both partners feeling disconnected, devalued, and miserable.  They’re the fights that they (or maybe you) keep having over and over and over…  And they’re the fights that begin to erode the foundation of the relationship. EFT provides a map to help couples reconnect to each other and make love come alive.

EFT provides a map to connection in couples therapy.

For couples that are struggling, EFT provides a way to reconnect. I’m so excited that Sue and EFT are receiving more recognition.  EFT offers couples amazing insight and healing.  And I am so grateful to be a part of the process.
